Where are ringtones saved by default?
Voice Ringtones will save the ringtone to your Downloads folder. If you select "Ask" in the Preferences window, then you will be prompted to select any folder of your choosing each time you create a tone. Prior to Version 3.0, Voice Ringtones will create a folder on your Desktop called VR_Ringtones where ringtones and text tones that you create will be stored. You can change the folder that the tones are saved to by clicking the Preferences button in Voice Ringtones' main menu. After creating a tone, you will have the opportunity to change the save location then as well.

How come a voice I've added doesn't show up in the voice list?
The following information applies to OS X El Capitan (10.11) and earlier. It should not be an issue in macOS Sierra (10.12) or later. You may have added a voice in System Preferences > Dictation & Speech > Text to Speech > System Voice > Customize, but do not see it in the "Voices" list in Voice Ringtones preferences. The way Apple's speech API (application program interface) works, if a voice offers an "enhanced quality" version, you must upgrade to that in order to use the "say" command that Voice Ringtones relies on. You will see an "Upgrade to enhanced quality" checkbox next to the voice name if one is offered. Apple does not charge for voice upgrades, but it will take up a small amount of extra space on your hard drive. If the voice does not have an enhanced quality version, then you should be able to see the voice in Voice Ringtones without any additional steps.
