The first time the application is run, macOS may ask you to confirm that you want to open it. You have to click the "Open" button in that prompt window to launch the application. If you get a message that the app cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, then you have an outdated version of the app, before we signed them with our Developer ID. To get around this, you need to right click (control key + click) on the application, and choose "Open" from that menu. You should be notified about an update, either by email or directly from the app, if one is available.
Do I need to move the app to the Applications folder?
Better safe than sorry. Some of our applications do require that they reside in the Applications folder. For the ones that don't, it is still a good idea, as it is a good way to group all applications together.
Should I download the Intel or Power PC version of the application?
Some of our applications offer both Intel and Power PC versions, which refers to the CPUs that Macs use. Any Mac made since 2006 has an Intel processor, so in that case, you should download the Intel version. Otherwise, download the Power PC version, as that is what Macs from 2005 and earlier use.
How do I get support if I have more questions or experience an issue?
Post on our Recent Questions forum. You can ask a new question by clicking here. When it asks you what you have a question about, select "I have a question about an Apple Club app," choose which application on the next page, and fill out the requested information. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org, but we prefer you ask a question through the above page if you think that others may benefit from your question. If your question is specific, such as requesting a re-download, please email us instead.
How do I leave feedback on an application?
On the application's Info page on our website, you will find a link to leave a comment or rating near the bottom of the page, followed by comments others have made. One way to get to the info page is to go to the main Downloads page, and click "Learn More" for the application you want to comment on. Most of our applications can also be found on other sites like MacUpdate. We ask that if you experience an issue, please reach out to us for support before leaving feedback. We also ask that you download the application directly from our website, as other popular download sites have been known to alter their downloads to install undesired software alongside the program you were trying to download, which may cause you to have an undesirable experience.
For paid applications, what is the checkout process?
This applies to users who download an app directly from our website as opposed to the App Store. On the "download" page for the application, you will find a Buy Now button which will take you to PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to buy it, just a credit or debit card. After the PayPal checkout is complete, there will be a link on the confirmation webpage on PayPal that says "Return to Apple Club." The link is small, but should be easy to find. There is a screenshot of the link you should look for on the download page for the application you want to buy. Once you click "Return to Apple Club," you will be taken back to our website and the download should start.
The download link is not working
Depending on the size of the application and your Internet speed, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to around twenty minutes to download. Check your Downloads folder to monitor the progress. If the download does not start automatically, you will find a link that says "click here if the download does not start," which is an alternate download link. If the application you downloaded is one that you paid for, and you no longer have the link open, search your browser's history.
